In Recovery

I am a sickling...I always have been. Sinus infection after sinus infection and constant nasal congestion. In the past few years things have just gotten worse and I was fed up with. Finally I went to see a Ear, Nose, and Throat Doctor to see if he could get to the bottom of the problem. Well he sure did and it ended up with me on an operating table!

I had surgery last Friday to correct my deviated septum (I hate that word for some reason) and to have my sinuses roter rooted. Surgery went well although it lasted 30 mintues longer than suspected (apparently I had a pretty bad fracture in my nose and it was difficult to fix). Friday night I was doing great, felt great, and hardly noticed anything was wrong besides the fact I had a drip pad tapped under my nose to catch all the blood and yuckiness. Come to find out on Saturday that I must have still been really REALLY high from the meds because holy crap was I in some major pain, very swollen, and very congested! Thank God for Lortab!

I'm getting better everyday...swelling has gone down but still very sore. I have splints shoved up my nostrils which are completely annoying, provide tons of pressure and are extremely painful. I get those out on Friday....I can't wait! My stiches should disolve in the next week or two.

I really hope this is worth it cause right now life sucks!

You'll be better in no time! One of my friends had that done about 5 years ago, and she says it was totally worth it! Maybe thats cuz she also got a small nose job out of it... but either way... ;-)

Hope you feel better soon, just keep up on the prescription narcotics!

Poor you...that does not sound like fun at all!! I hope you're feeling better soon. Since your surgery is already over I can tell you this, I wouldn't dare tell you if you hadn't been in for surgery yet but a friend of ours went in to have his deviated septum fixed and actually died for 13 minutes on the operating table, aparently was allergic to the cocaine in the anestesia, he was in a coma for a day and a half and the Dr's told his parents to prepare for brain damage, but...he woke up and was totally fine except for some memory loss! Bad story with a good ending but very scary, needless to say he didn't get the deviated septum fixed!
